THREE CLEVER ARTHRITIS AIDS

As I get older, I notice that more and more of my family and friends suffer with arthritis. I am lucky, I don’t have symptoms – yet.  But I am mindful of the challenges they face and the fact this will probably be me sometime in the future.

So, I was interested to discover Arthr. Arthr is a social venture with a mission to improve everyday living for people with arthritis by providing ergonomically designed and attractive looking products that make everyday life easier.

The first item that caught my eye was the G-Hold® Universal Tablet Holder. I tend to use my tablet to surf, read books and magazines etc. while in bed and I was finding it very awkward and uncomfortable to hold. The G-Hold looked like the ideal solution.

It is described as ‘an intelligently designed and patented technology that allows your hand to remain in a very relaxed position whilst securing your tablet. It puts an end to the need to grip your table or reader whilst scrolling through the screen. Tested and approved by Microsoft Surface, Panasonic, Apple and the Amazon Devices team.’

It was quick and simple to stick to my tablet and the ‘sticky-out’ part can be taken off easily if you want to pop the tablet in your bag or a case. Just remember that the base pad (the part that sticks to the tablet) needs to adhere to a flat surface, so if you have a cover on our device then you may need to remove it.

I certainly found the G-Hold made using my tablet much more comfortable with far less train on my hands.

I also liked the idea of the Plugull. This is a clever plug attachment sits between the plug and the sock and has a pull hook on it. This means you can easily and safely remove electrical 3-pin plugs without risking getting your fingers near the pins or struggling with stiff plugs that jam in the sockets and are hard to pull out. Plugull is particularly useful for people who suffer with dexterity issues and find gripping plugs difficult. I think it would also be great for anyone who has plugs in hard-to-reach places and where you have to struggle to get to the plug at an odd angle. It comes in three bright colours, so it looks fun, not just functional.

The Koa duvet cover caught my eye immediately as I find changing the duvet such a faff. Koa’s easy change design has an inventive central opening, that puts every corner within arm’s reach, so no battling with the duvet cover inside out, or searching around for the corners – just open the zip and pull the duvet in, close and you’re done! The duvet is 100% cotton, and the zipper is fully covered so you can’t see or feel it.
