Q&A: CARUN – ACTIVE HEMP FOR HEALTH & BEAUTY
Hemp has been used for centuries and over the last decade has been making a comeback – particularly in the fashion industry. But hemp can be used for so much more.
We chat to Michal Takac of Carun Active Hemp to find out more about the wonder-plant:
What inspired the Carun range of Active Hemp products?
I was recovering from a horrific industrial accident in which I lost three fingers on my left hand and a friend visiting from the Czech Republic brought with him Carun Active Hemp ointment which he said would help alleviate the constant pain I was in and reduce the scaring and painful scar tissue. I felt the effects immediately and applied it both to the skin on my hand and took it orally in the form of an edible Active Hemp Oil (CBD oil).
Since then I haven’t looked back. I became the sole UK distributor of Carun and am committed to helping as many people as possible in the UK.
What is ‘Active’ hemp?
Active Hemp comes from the Cannabis Sativa plant and does not contain psychoactive THC’s. It is rich in naturally occurring wide spectrum Cannabinoids that work with the human body’s own Endocannabinoid system to maintain healing and balance (Homeostasis). It works on a cellular level and is naturally analgesic (pain-relieving), antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic. As a result it is helpful in the management of a whole range of conditions from digestive disorders and neurological conditions to serious skin complaints.
Where does the hemp come from and how is it processed to make your products?
Carun Active Hemp plant extract is certified EU Organic and grown in a designated protected landscape bio-zone area in the Czech Republic. Because our plants are grown in an exceptionally clean area of Europe they test negatively for contamination. (Cannabis Sativa plants naturally absorb pollutants and toxins from the atmosphere and this can affect the purity of the extract depending on where it is grown.)
Our Active Hemp is harvested from the leaves and stems of the Cannabis Sativa plant and does NOT contain psychoactive THC’s. Our EU accredited laboratory uses supercritical CO2 extraction – carbon dioxide under high pressure at extremely low temperatures to preserve the active ingredients – to create medical grade Active Hemp Oil that is safe, potent and free from impurities.,

Skincare, supplements, and other health and beauty products need to be effective – what evidence is there to support the benefits of hemp?
Our Active Hemp products contain wide spectrum Cannabinoids, anti-oxidant vitamin E and essential fatty acids Omega 6 and Omega 3. The also contain terpenes, important mineral and vitamins, high- quality storage proteins edestin and albumin and nutritionally significant amounts of essential amino acids including high levels of arginine.
