Q&A: NATURE’S CLEANER; MIXING WATER WITH OZONE
We chat to John Fathers, CEO of Green World Innovations about the Tersano lotus® PRO green cleaning system… which mixes ozone and water to create an effective, natural cleaner with no chemical by products. After use it reverts back to water and oxygen.
What is the Tersano lotus® PRO Cleaning System?
The Tersano lotus® PRO is used in commercial cleaning and is a unit that dispenses Stabilised Aqueous Ozone.
Installed onto a wall (usually in a janitorial or cleaning cupboard), the Tersano lotus® PRO requires electric and water feed. Normal, cold tap water is infused with a stabiliser and oxygen in the unit and charged with electricity to create Stabilised Aqueous Ozone. This 100% environmentally friendly cleaning solution can then be dispensed into cleaning bottles, buckets and even ride on commercial cleaning machines.
Stabilised Aqueous Ozone is a powerful, natural sanitised cleaning solution which can be used for any surface or area and is more powerful than chlorine. Yet if it is spilt on clothes or skin there are no adverse effects (you could even drink it if you really wanted to).
How does it work?
The patented Tersano lotus® PRO technology recreates ozone – nature’s cleaner – straight from the tap. Cold tap water is mixed with a stabiliser and oxygen filtered from the outside air. The water is then charged with electricity to create Stabilised Aqueous Ozone = H2O +O3, a powerful, natural sanitised cleaning solution.
The Stabilised Aqueous Ozone technology is attracted to dirt and grime and cleans immediately, wiping out pathogens and contaminants through oxidization with little contact time. Aqueous Ozone is proven to kill MRSA, H1N1, E.Coli and Staph up to 99.99% of the time, significantly reducing the risk of infection. The natural solution also sanitises surfaces virtually instantly (compared to up to 20-minute contact time for chemical disinfectants).
After up to 24 hours the Stabilised Aqueous Ozone turns back into water and oxygen and so can be poured away with no risk of polluting the environment.
What are the issues that this system helps to address?
Numerous chemicals are traditionally used for cleaning different areas and for a multitude of applications. These cleaning products are a major cause for concern when it comes to their impact on the environment, not only in the production phase when a large amount of energy is used to manufacture them, but also the packaging and transportation that is necessary to deliver them.
Once poured away these chemicals pollute rivers and streams and if they are non-biodegradable can end up in the food chain with the potential of causing serious illness for humans as well as impacting on the environment.
Toxins in cleaning chemicals can also be dangerous to both occupants and users of buildings and to cleaning staff regularly using the products.
By making a switch to cleaning with Stabilised Aqueous Ozone, the environment benefits significantly. There is no need for the delivery of chemicals (taking trucks off the road) and once a cleaning shift has finished the solution can be poured away with no risk of pollution as the natural sanitiser turns back into water and oxygen. What’s more the Tersano lotus® PRO costs pennies per litre and only requires the equivalent of two 40-watt light bulbs when in use.
