We chat to Samar Farooq, founder of Samol Herbal about their first product based on an ancient recipe; Samol Herbal Hair and Scalp Oil…
What is Samol Herbal Hair and Scalp Oil?
It is a powerful blend of 17 different ingredients including organic cold pressed oils and ancient time-proven herbs – all of which have been used for 100s of years to promote strong, healthy looking hair.
What inspired you to create Samol Herbal Hair and Scalp Oil?
I was very keen to continue my family’s legacy. Both my grandmother and mother have been Unani practitioners (you can call them herbalists!) and have spent years studying this science. My grandmother sold the hair oil (formerly known as Askarol) for over 30 years. It was used and endorsed by Indian royalty, such as Nawab of Junagadh, Princess Abida Sultan. We knew, from our own experience, and the results it delivered to my grandmother’s clients, just how powerful the formulation was; so my mother and I decided to bring it to the world.
How do you use the product?
Depending on length of your hair, we suggest at least 8-10 drops to help fully moisturise the scalp with the oil. Apply with finger tips to scalp, hair roots and strands. Massage in to the scalp and spread through your hair. Leave it overnight and then wash and style as usual in the morning. The longer you leave, the better the results…but please use a towel on the pillowcase!
What are the ingredients and why did you choose these particular ingredients?
Samol takes an holistic approach to beauty and we take the greatest care to select only safe, natural and time-proven ingredients.
Our hair oil contains 17 ingredients which serve three main purposes:
- Herbs like triphala and Bhringraj help give you lustrous shiny hair and promote hair growth.
- Oils like neem, sesame and blackseed, moisturise and promote a healthy scalp.
- Samol also contains calming herbs like Brahmi, Jatamansi and Calamus which help reduce stress and anxiety and aid with sleep.
We believe it’s important that all products are cruelty free – are your products, or any of their ingredients tested on animal or derived from animals?
SAMOL is not tested on animals – we would never wish to inflict pain or distress on another living being. Our skincare product, to be launched soon, contains Donkey’s milk.
